A diagnosis is not a label—it is a tool for understanding, access, and support. In this breakout session, participants will explore the strengths of receiving a diagnosis in both medical and educational settings, and how each plays a unique and important role in a child’s development. Julee Renfroe of Champions for Children will explain the differences between school-based evaluations and medical diagnoses, highlighting why having both can be so beneficial. Attendees will learn how a diagnosis can open doors to services, accommodations, and therapies—and how it helps families move from uncertainty to action after diagnosis. This session emphasizes the power of a collaborative approach, demonstrating how coordination between doctors, ABA providers, physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), speech therapy, and schools can make a meaningful difference in outcomes. When professionals work together, children receive more comprehensive, timely, and effective support. A Q&A session will follow, allowing families to ask questions, gain clarity, and leave with practical next steps and confidence moving forward.
