Hear directly from autistic adults and youth as they share lived experiences and practical insight into what self-advocacy looks like in real life. This engaging panel features Meredith Williams, advocate and educator, and Alex Jones, self-advocate, who will explore why self-advocacy is essential across three critical areas: employment, education, and government/policy. Panelists will discuss how self-advocacy empowers individuals to communicate their needs, protect their rights, and create meaningful change—not only for themselves, but for the broader autism community. Through personal stories and real-world examples, participants will gain a deeper understanding of common barriers to self-advocacy and how to navigate them with confidence. The panel will also offer practical, step-by-step strategies that individuals, families, and allies can begin using immediately to support effective self-advocacy in daily life. Time will be reserved for audience questions and discussion, creating space for learning, connection, and shared understanding.

Who Should Attend: This session is ideal for individuals on the autism spectrum, caregivers, educators, and professionals who support self-advocacy. Attendees will learn why self-advocacy matters in school, work, and government, and gain practical strategies to begin advocating effectively.
- Be able to communicate their needs (verbally, with AAC, or other reliable communication methods)
- Be fully potty trained
- Be able to participate in an activity for up to 45 minutes
- Be able to follow basic directions
- Be paired with a designated buddy and must never be left alone during the session
- 14 years old and up
- Parents or caregivers must drop off and pick up participants directly at the assigned classroom for each breakout session
- Participants may only be released to their parent or designated caregiver at the end of the session
