Feeding challenges are common for children on the autism spectrum—and for many families, mealtimes can quickly become stressful and confusing. In this informative and parent-centered session, Courtni Marshall and Jeri Ward walk attendees through typical feeding development from infancy through childhood, highlighting early milestones and red flags that may signal feeding difficulties. They will explore how neurodivergent brains process sensory input, routine, and control, and how these differences can significantly impact eating behaviors. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of why feeding challenges occur and learn practical, realistic strategies to support neurodivergent eaters at every stage. The session emphasizes progress over perfection and equips caregivers with tools to reduce stress, build trust, and support healthy relationships with food. This session is ideal for parents, caregivers, and professionals seeking clarity, reassurance, and actionable next steps for supporting children with feeding differences.

Who Should Attend: This session is designed for parents, caregivers, educators, and professionals who support children on the autism spectrum. Attendees will learn practical strategies for feeding challenges, nutrition, and mealtime success from infancy through childhood.
- Be able to communicate their needs (verbally, with AAC, or other reliable communication methods)
- Be fully potty trained
- Be able to participate in an activity for up to 45 minutes
- Be able to follow basic directions
- Be paired with a designated buddy and must never be left alone during the session
- 14 years old and up
- Parents or caregivers must drop off and pick up participants directly at the assigned classroom for each breakout session
- Participants may only be released to their parent or designated caregiver at the end of the session
