Choosing the right educational path for a child on the autism spectrum can feel overwhelming—and there is no one-size-fits-all solution. In this informative and empowering breakout session, families will hear from experts representing multiple educational perspectives. Rachel Massey, owner of Monarch Prep, will discuss the advantages and limitations of education models that incorporate Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Whitney Sherman, Ph.D., Autism Specialist for Region 7, will share insights into public school education, including its strengths, challenges, and available supports. Representatives from the Parents Resource Network will provide guidance on advocacy within the public school system and share valuable resources available to families. This session emphasizes that educational needs can change over time—and that families may utilize different systems at different stages of their child’s development. Parents will leave with a clearer understanding of how to evaluate what is the best fit for their child right now, while feeling more confident navigating future transitions. A Q&A session will follow, allowing attendees to ask questions and gain practical, real-world guidance.

Time: 2:15-3pm
